Frol — a Russian folk form of the baptismal male name Flor, which comes from the Latin word «flos» — «flower» and translating as «blooming». Form Frol was eventually be used as an independent name.

Patron saint of this name is Holy Martyr Florus, whose life is inextricably linked with the life of his brother, Laurel. Holy Martyrs Florus and Laurus were brothers, not only in the flesh but in spirit. They lived in Illyria and were masons.

Florus and Laurus were working on a construction site, unceasingly pray, observe a strict fast, and handed out money to beggars.
